About UsNRI Community Services, a non-profit, licensed behavioral healthcare agency in Rhode Island, was founded in 1966. Last year we served 4700 individuals assisting them with mental health, behavioral, emotional and substance abuse issues. Caring for Community Means..."Caring for Community" is embedded in our logo. For us, that means helping clients become healthier, more self reliant and better informed about the causes, symptoms and treatments of the illnesses they are experiencing. Because mental illness, substance abuse and addictions affect just about everyone — people like you, your neighbors and your friends — the work that we do impacts the community in a positive way. For example, we may provide emergency services to a person who is suicidal; educate and mentor a child at risk for placement outside their home because of behavioral difficulties; or give critical incident debriefing services to police officers who often encounter individuals in crisis. We may advocate for supports for a grandmother to improve her quality of life; provide daily support to a developmentally disabled woman in one of our supervised residences; or assist a family in finding affordable housing. Promoting Recovery & WellnessNRICS puts the needs of those we serve at the forefront of our approach to treatment. All our clients are full partners with a team of professionals who respect their choices when developing their goals. We prioritize home and community-based services and focus on instilling hope, enabling self-help and reducing the risk of relapse that decreases reliance on the care system. We also provide in-office counseling for those in need of support through trying times. Attending to Health, Housing & Job NeedsAll services are family-focused and address the physical, financial and housing needs of people as well. We do this by developing safe, affordable housing options dependent upon clients’ situations; offering therapy and groups that promote self-help, wellness and peer support; providing job training and placement services, and coordinating care with healthcare providers. In the CommunityBeyond the mental health treatment that we provide, we step out into the community as educators, advocates, and trauma specialists as well. At NRICS we are committed to helping reduce community violence by providing interventions that reduce community violence, juvenile delinquency, criminal justice involvement, and addressing the symptoms caused by exposure to violence, which create safer communities. We provide education about mental illness and addictions, specialized training, risk assessment, and worksite analysis to other agencies and municipalities to help stem the negative impact of violence and post traumatic stress that is prevalent in many of our clients' lives. We also provide technical assistance, consultation and training to help improve efficiency and treatment outcomes within the mental health community and local schools. NRI Community Services cares for the community and cares about you. |
